Number of Years in the AEC Industry:

How has SMPS membership been of value to you and your career?
The relationships and connections I have made through SMPS have been invaluable to me both personally and professionally. Its like having an "extended family" to turn to whenever you need them.

How did you get started with your career?
Honestly, my career in the AEC industry just kind of fell into my lap. I needed a job and TSF, which was Tierra at the time, was hiring an office manager. They were my very first interview after getting laid off from my job in the restaurant industry and I was their first interview of the day. That was on January 11th of 2007. The moment during the interview that stands out in my mind the most was when Raj asked if I knew what his company did - my response was - yeah - "you test the dirt or something like that" - he looked at me and said - "its Soil - not Dirt." He ended up offering me the job anyway, and the rest as we say - is history! And although I did major in marketing at Syracuse University, If anyone would have told me I would be working for a geotechnical engineering company for over 11 years as their Marketing / Business Development Person - I would have looked at them and asked them to give me what they were smoking! LOL!!!! ;-) But I have zero regrets and I really DO love my job MOST days.

What's your favorite moment of your career so far?
Honestly - my most favorite moment in my career took place recently at one of our SMPS events. It was at our first Women in Government, PBC panel - which happened to take place on my Birthday. I stood in the back of the room looking ahead at the panel of strong, inspiring women on the stage. I stood there listening to each of them speak - telling their stories - and then turned to watch the audience reaction. That day - in that moment - was My Most favorite moment in my career. I was like wow - I did this!!! So a BIG HUGE thank you to SMPS South Florida for giving me the opportunity to share my vision and bring inspiring programs to our members. There is nothing better than being able to bring your vision and passion to life!

What was your childhood dream job?
I wanted to be a Charlie's Angel!! LOL!! Yes - I just said that out loud! I wanted to be a private investigator - but when I realized you had to be a uniformed police officer first - I quickly changed my thought process - Bonni and uniforms aren't Friends!!! LOL!!!!
