How has SMPS membership been of value to you and your career?
Yes - I have learned a great many things and made incredible teaming connections.

How did you get started with your career?
I am an architect and was involved with pursuits then started to lead the pursuit process.

Are you interested in seeking CPSM certification; and if so, how do you expect it to benefit you?
No, I don't believe I am the right candidate for this.

What excites you about your work and the contribution you make?
Being able to bring work to the professionals that make up my team is really fulfilling.

What helpful tip(s) can you share with your fellow SMPS members?
Communicating your value is really hard, but made worse in today's instant gratification society. Reach out to people and make personal connections.

What is the best communications/marketing advice you've ever received?
How to control your non-verbal communication / body language and better tell your story.

Pretend you're a CEO. What three concerns about the firm's future keep you up at night?
1. Automation that limit the value of designers, 2. the dramatic shortage of mid-tier professionals, 3. political instability that can worsen any slowdown.

What's your favorite moment of your career so far?
Winning a massive bio-medical facility against all odds.

What was your childhood dream job?
Architecture was always my dream.

What was your most uncomfortable work place scenario and how did you solve it?
Telling other leaders that they were on the wrong seat on the bus and organizing changes.

If you could visit anywhere in the world you have never been, where would you go?

Do you have a secret talent? What is it?
I can oil paint.

What was your first real job?
Working part time in a sandwich shop. My first real job professionally was for a Downtown Development District - that was a really interesting job.

You're a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Blue- I am honest and straightforward.

What is your favorite family tradition?
Getting together for Thanksgiving.

What was the best concert you've ever attended?
The Jackson's Victory Tour or the Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge Tour.

If you could learn anything, what would it be?
How to play the Piano.
