Vice President of Marketing and Work Acquisition

Number of Years in the AEC Industry:

How has SMPS membership been of value to you and your career?
Networking with peers and staying current on industry trends is absolutely essential in our industry - not only to learn from one another, but to keep each other sane! SMPS provides the means to do so. The relationships that I've been able to form at both a professional
and personal level have been invaluable.

How did you get started with your career?
I ended up in the A/E/C industry completely by chance. I worked in sports marketing right out of college which was a great learning experience, but after a few years, I was ready for a change. I randomly got a call about a marketing position at Suffolk. I knew nothing about the industry and didn't even know my current career path existed. It ended up being the best professional decision I've ever made.

What excites you about your work and the contribution you make?
There’s nothing more exciting than being a part of a key pursuit. I love sitting around the table with the team, rolling up the sleeves, and developing a strong, creative win strategy. If you’re doing it right, it’s a huge effort and requires everyone to be fully invested. Contributing to that process and supporting the team is extremely fulfilling.

What helpful tip(s) can you share with your fellow SMPS members?
Regardless of where you are in your career, find opportunities to learn from those around you. And ask questions – lots of questions! None of us know it all, and the more comfortable you are with admitting when you don’t have the answer, the more you will grow as a professional.

What's your favorite moment of your career so far?
I’ve been fortunate to work with a company that fully supports my growth, and I’m surrounded by a team of talented and caring individuals. There isn’t one moment that necessarily comes to mind as a favorite, but rather just a continuous sense of teamwork for which I’m extremely grateful.

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I've been re-watching The Office a lot lately. Still holds up!

What was your first real job?
I worked at a restaurant in Pennsylvania called Issac's - doing everything from serving tables to food prep and cooking. Fun Fact: they name all of their sandwiches after birds.

What is your favorite family tradition?
My immediate family is spread out between Florida, Pennsylvania, and California. Since we aren't often able to be together on birthdays, we make a point to do a group call and sing to each other on every birthday!

What was the best concert you've ever attended?
I'm a big concert-goer, so it's hard to pick just one. But we've been lucky to have experienced a few shows at Red Rocks in Colorado and it's out of this world.

If you could learn anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn a musical instrument. And I'm hoping to learn more Spanish in the upcoming year.
