SMPS: How has SMPS membership been of value to you and your career?
SMPS has given me countless opportunities to build meaningful relationships in my community throughout the marketing sector of the industry.

SMPS: How did you get started with your career?
My senior year of college I took an internship with a local construction firm in marketing and really fell in love with the industry. I never dreamed I would have a career in construction but I have grown to love the ever changing, fast paced environment that goes along with being a marketing professional!

SMPS: Are you interested in seeking CPSM certification; and if so, how do you expect it to benefit you?
Yes, definitely, I welcome any opportunity to learn and I think CPSM certification would benefit with industry skills, knowledge and processes.

SMPS: What excites you about your work and the contribution you make?
I love the thrill of chasing a pursuit from beginning to end. Putting together a proposal response and having the freedom to customize each pursuit in its own creative way makes the work fun. The feeling of winning a project with your team after putting in so much teamwork, effort and hard work is unlike any other and what we live for as marketing professionals!

SMPS: What is the best communications/marketing advice you've ever received?
If you don't use Indesign to the fullest capacity when creating a proposal response you are missing out! Indesign as well as other design resources are huge in not recreating the wheel every time a new RFP comes out. There are so many tips and tricks in creating templates, masters, libraries to reuse graphics etc.

Try to streamline your pursuit process as much as possible, figure out where your pain points are and work through them with your team. Creating a process that everyone knows and is comfortable with is huge.

Learn to use everyone in your office as a resource, you aren't working alone. Find out what people's strengths are, someone in our precon department just recently agreed to editing our RFP responses because she enjoys proofreading and can quickly look over things. You never know these things until you ask!

Plan ahead and take time to focus on goals for your department/role.

SMPS: What is the best communications/marketing advice you've ever received?

Be yourself and use your own style when leading a team. Figure out your strengths and passions as a leader and use those to guide your team.

SMPS: What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Grey's Anatomy.

SMPS: If you could visit anywhere in the world you have never been, where would you go?
Mallorca, Spain.

SMPS: What was your first real job?

SMPS: What is your favorite family tradition?
Spending Christmas in different places.

SMPS: If you could learn anything, what would it be?

As many new languages as possible!

SMPS: If you could change your name, what would it be and why?

I honestly love my name, I hated it when I was little because it was so different than everyone else's but now I love it. My full name is Annatasia DeAngelis :)
