SMPS: How did you get your career start?

I began my career in the A/E/C industry with Song + Associates after working for a national non-profit organization. The fast-paced environment was exciting to me, and I enjoyed seeing how my marketing efforts led to the firm’s creation of cornerstone projects throughout many South Florida communities. I learned first-hand from the founder, Young Song, about the value of building relationships.

SMPS: What is the most important thing you’ve gained from joining SMPS?

Knowing that there is a whole network of professionals like myself who can share in each other’s successes, challenges, and best practices for marketing the A/E/C industry.

SMPS: What excites you about your work and the contribution you make?

The most exciting aspect of my job is helping win projects to change the world for the better.

SMPS: If you could learn anything what would it be?

I like having the opportunity to be creative with designing the proposals and presentations, so I’d really like to add 3D rendering to my skill set as well.

SMPS: Helpful hint to share with your fellow SMPS members.

Always smile even if you want to scream sometimes.

SMPS: Tell us something we would be surprised to learn about you.

In my spare time, I like to work on graphic and web design projects.

SMPS: What I did at work yesterday.

I recently finished up a presentation and handout materials for a public golf course project, in which WGI teamed with the Greg Norman Golf Course Design Group.

SMPS: What is the best communication or marketing advice you ever received?

The project manager should be treated like a client.

SMPS: Are you interested in seeking a CPSM; and if so, how do you expect the certification to benefit you?

Yes, I’m currently studying for the certification. I’m certain that the CPSM will equip me to implement the marketing and business development tools taught in each of the six domains to benefit the company.

SMPS: What is your favorite book or movie and why?

My favorite book is the Alchemist. The main character is determined to find the riches he sees in a recurring dream, so he travels far and wide to find it only to learn that he always had it close to him. It’s the perfect illustration of how the journey is more rewarding than arriving at your destination in life.

SMPS: When you were little, who was your favorite superhero and why?

My favorite super hero was Xena the Warrior Princess, because she was like a modern-day goddess Athena.

SMPS: How do you enjoy your free time?

I enjoy going to the gym, spending time with family and friends, and fine culinary experiences.

SMPS: What's the one thing, you can't live without?

Fruit and green tea.
